A horse in Arizona, by the name of Colorado, was successfully rescued by helicopter after he spent five days stranded on a sandbar on the Gila River southwest of Phoenix. The river's fast current prevented an earlier rescue attempt, which left the horse trapped on the sandbar with just a few bushes and trees to munch on. The horse was prepped for the flight Tuesday using a tranquilizer before being placed in a harness with blinders on.
I’ve never seen this happen in real life, but just a few days ago I caught an episode of M*A*S*H in Verizon’s FiOS TV where a very similar feat occurred. Hawkeye, BJ, and animal-loving Radar had the injured horse rescued by helicopter, and later presented him to newly-arrived Colonel Potter as a welcome present.

Corey Haim - Fallen Actor To Be Laid To Rest In His Native Toronto
Teen idol and star of the smash 1987 hit, The Lost Boys, died most unexpectedly on Wednesday. According to high speed internet reports, Haim’s manager, Marc Heaslip, has announced that there will be a memorial service held in Los Angeles. Haim’s final resting place will be in his hometown of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
The 38-year-old actor, who struggled with various addictions for most of his adult life, was found dead Wednesday in the apartment he shared with his mother, Judy. There is speculation surrounding the cause of his death, but an initial coroner’s report showed an enlarged heart, pulmonary congestion, and water in his lungs at the time of his death.
